Hi,
Has anyone had problems returning faulty power supplies to ACER in the UK under warranty that are over 6 months old. Tried yesterday to return a faulty power supply - supply is eight months old only to be told it is out of warranty as it is a consumable item. How can a power supply be a consumable item?
This is not stated anywhere in the warranty terms and conditions - only consumable item listed is the battery. But told in effect tough - ACER class it as a consumable item. Surely if this is the case they could decide at their whim to class anything as a consumable item?
Anyfeedback would be appreciated.

Ive had that trouble with alot of products, where companies class the accessories as consumables, just ring them again and put a bit of pressure on them, threaten them with legal procedings, this will usually get the problem solved as im pretty sure there in the wrong here, a 12 month warranty should cover everything. hope this helps, tell me how it goes.

I think the person you spoke to might be misguided. AFAIK, the battery is the only item excluded from the standard 1 Year Warranty on Acer lappies.
New battery warranty on a new lappie is only 90 days.
Everything else is covered.

Hi,
Thanks for the posts, spoke to three different people this week at the UK support number given on the warranty card and all told me the same thing, that ACER class this as a consumable item so 12 month warranty does not apply. This is not detailed in the warranty supplied and informed them of this - standard response - ACER class as a consumable item whatever is stated. Will try again next week as this is surely a nonsense?
Thanks

Your best bet is to hope Hairy Lee sees your thread and replies to it. He is based in th UK and is an Acer Service Engineer.
He always gives good advise.
Good luck
