Hint: the title of the wiki article referenced in my note is 'List of Intel Pentium Dual-Core microprocessors' ;)

The confusion comes mainly from the fact that SU2700 is based on the Penryn core.

This processor is a 45nm single core Pentium. I am 100% sure. The SU3300 and SU3500 following the number order are also single core.

    Intel SU2700 page

And this processor is not even worth considering due to the no Speed Step and higher TDP than the faster SU3500.

From Intel's own website on the Pentium:
    Click the Processor Numbers tab.
There it is, black and white: single-core.
Note how every article posted here claiming it's a dual-core CPU is from the announcement, not its release (except the Processor Finder, which I'm pretty sure is a mistake)

I am interested in the Timeline computer also - There seems to be a choice of processors:
    Intel Pentium ULV SU2700 1.3GHz
    or
    Intel Core 2 Solo SU3500 1.4GHz

Anybody know anything about which of these would be better? or neither?

    THANKS.

SU3500 is better, it will give you longer battery life since it is 5.5W vs 10W for the Pentium.

There's also the SU9400 1.4 GHz which is a dual core processor and much more powerful then those two options

do you think SU3500 should be good for browsing in multiple tabs and photo editing though?
the same question as above, do you think SU3500 should be good for browsing in multiple tabs and photo editing though?
do you think this processor should be good enough for video encoding, say, using handbrake or avidemux?

i actually used handbrake to convert an 8 GB blu-ray torrent of quantum of solace on the SU3500. encoding took forever (and i have no idea how to use the thing so i dont know if i did the right settings or anything) like a few days, but i could do other tasks while it was working. again, i dont know how to use handbrake, so i could have set some settings really wrong

as far as web browsing AND photo editing, should be 100% fine. web browsing, photo editing AND handbrake... well then u may face a slow down or two, but serious encoding will slow down almost any computer

i think you did not read my comments totally, i never said i wanted to use handbrake like program in solo processor computer! i wanted to know whether SU2700 or SU3500 can do photo editing and browsing w/o hitch. i mentioned handbrake in regard to SU9400 which is C2D. thanks for your comments though! :D
i don't think you did any setting mistake in handbrake, it is extremely difficult to get the encoding job done with solo processors indeed.

ah... sorry for the confusion. the reason i think i got the settings wrong is because when i played the file, it looked significantly worse than before...

oh i see, that happens in ripping, handbrake (even other programs) may not like some settings.
