The 2423 works fine for one to two hours and then shuts off (AC ADAPTER in use) I am thinking this is a heat problem as it does seem unusually warm. With no access to service manuals from ACER can anyone tell me how to locate the fan and removal instructions?

Yeah, it could be a heat-issue. As far as I remember, it is not allowed to distribute service-manuals on this forum =/.

But the fan is usually easy to find - it is below the laptop. Just open it, and clean it. You could also download GPU-Z and CPU-Z to check the temperatures of the laptop. Then you can figure out, if it really is a heat-issue.

    Good luck.
