does anyone know if there is a driver to download for ACPI support for acer aspire 1690 ?

Its not switching off automatically anymore like it used to, I had to do a Recovery recently.
It says "it is now safe to turn off your computer" ,and then u have to do this manually to turn it off.

    Any support would be appreciated.
Yes I have red the microsoft fix ,but its not helping.

i guess you have Service Pack 2 installed and then installed SP3,,

    or are you running VISTA??

a BIOS update might solve the problem,,, it;s worth a try

    Check this out.
    Note: This is for XP/2000.

I'd try to remove the ACPI from 'Device Manager', restart, and let Windows to detect and install it again. Go to 'System Devices' and remove the ACPI(s) from there.
