They're selling this in my country the Philippines, for around US$1,400.00
Is it worth it? How are the specs when you add them up? Would this be cheaper in anothe country? I'd appreciate any insight. Thank you so much!!!
Is this a normal set up? Thank you!
Good day to you!!

Not the greatest gaming notebook. The 8400M G is pretty much the lowest end dedeicated graphics card and most games should run at low or medium settings. Consider a system with a 8400M Gs or above if you want a gaming notebook. But still depending on the games you want to play the 8400M G should do fine and better than any integrated graphics cards.
As for as the price is concerned, it will be largely dependant on the market where the laptop is sold. So it doesnt make sense to comare it with the US or any other place in the world. I would recommend comparing it with other notebooks in the Phillipines and compare the proce/specifications with them.
But in the U.S a system with that configuration typically sells in the $800 to $1200 range. -
Thank you so much for your reply. I'm considering buying a laptop already, and from the available laptops in the market now, I think this one is more suitable for me. It's a little more expensive than the low end laptops here, but cheaper than the really expensive branded ones.
I was told the same thing about the graphic card, but will the 4.0gb RAM do anything to help? -
P.S: If the system includes 4GB RAM make sure you have a 64bit XP/Vista/Linux since the 32bit versions wont be able to make full use of it. -
Thank you so much for the tips! I'm about to check the laptop out later. i'll tell them my concerns and hopefully they'll help me out.
how often do you need to download the drivers? -
u can come to singapore to buy the notebook its just $1200 SGD not usd.
price is cheaper due to the FTA(Free trade agreement) sign between US and singapore. -
Thank you for the responses.
I went ahead and bought my laptop the ACER ASPIRE 4520G.
I'm like a kid excited to open my gifts on Christmas day.
My laptop will be delivered tomorrow afternoon.approximately 12 hours!
Any reminders? Tips?
All the specs are on the first post.
I'm having the store make my recovery discs (3 DVDs) ahead. I'm not sure tho how to work it.
Should I update my drivers right away online? Anything I should remember? This is my first time to use Vista and from what I've read, it's pretty different from XP so i'll have to get used to it.
I think I'll be able to purchase my cooling pad in a few weeks, as well as an external hard drive to keep my data at.
Since my 160GB will become 149GB from vista alone, what else should I be warned about in terms of space?
gaaaaah.. pardon me okay, I'm quite excited and worried at the same time.
-
it just arrived!!
i've read that vista is supposed to make it easier on partitioning HDDs right? I hope that's the case with mine because i want to partition my 160 to
C: 60 - OS and programs
D: 100 - data
I haven't been able to check because it arrived while i'm at work. i cant wait to get home!! -
I just got my laptop and i noticed a dead pixel. should i return it?
-
HELLO!!!!!!!
What happened to your new Laptop huh?? I think you should returned it, after all it still in warranty. I'm planning to buy a TuX2Gamer laptop this coming X-Mas!!! I think that laptop is good and well suited for me!..................
I hope your Tux2 gamer is okay now.......
-
hi!
there's a minimun number of dead pixels before acer replaces it. there's no guarantee of any brand to claim 100% dead pixel-free or else our screens would be too expensive to throw out every time 1 or 2 dead pixels show up.. i accepted it and it doesnt bother me as much anymore.
i love my laptop!! my windows experience is a 3.1 (based on lowest score) and i have a 4.7 processor and a 5.7 ram!! its excitingi love my laptop.
im still playing around with it, planning to skip work and just play with it.
battery life is poor, understandable for a 6-cell unit. im planning to save up and buy a 9-12 cell so i can maximize the hours on this baby.
sometimes i get worried when i resume from sleep, its not as smooth as id like it to be.
i removed start up apps which help speed up my boot time
enjoy yours! -
I can't wait to put my hands on a TuX2 gamer...........!!!!
What is the Graphics Score and Gaming Score of that Baby? -
I am also planning to buy this model of notebook. Can you give me an " actual" review of this notebook for my basis in deciding? Thanks.
-
Hi, i'm not much of a techie unlike the rest of the people here.. but i'll do my best.
so based on my score, it's pretty good. you can still do stuff to increase the windows experience.
i've had fun installing new programs and transferring my files into this baby. my onlly qualm is the battery life, which you can get the most out of using power saver, but i cant expect too much from a 6-cell battery.
it runs smooth, not as slow as i would have thought, but maybe that 4GB of RAM maybe doing the trick.
i know i can't maximize the 4GB because im on a 32-bit vista premium but it's better than a 2GB.
hmmm, how else can i review this..
weight is okay for a 14.1" screen.
i havent been able to max out my laptop since it's still pretty new to me but it came with programs for multimedia purposes. i used Adobe photoshop without problems, but then again it wasn't for a huge file.
im very happy with this.
i recommend getting a cooling pad and if you have the budget, a 9-12 cell battery. -
Congrats on your new Acer laptop.
Yes, most companies not only have a minimum # of stuck (on or off) pixels they require for LCD replacement but it aso depends on where tey are located on the screen
My Acer also has "waking" issues re: coming out of Hibernation if Vista was left running and the battery runs down to zero power.
I ordered an internal Bluetooth "card" to make my Acer complete...already upgraded the memory.
I suggest you look into the "universal laptop extended batteries" as made by APC (American Power Conversion) for example...I have two, the 70W and 80W batteries.

Works fine for me at HotSpots and they can work with almost ANY latop...unlike batteries made ONLY for a particular brand/model laptop. I'd get one of these "universals" instead of just another Acer extended laptop battery.

oooh thanks for the tip!
my acer doesnt have issues with hibernation, and my lappie has internal bluetooth which works great with my cellphone.
i think ill look into that universal laptop extended batteries.thank you so much!

hi banannarama,
Just wondering, did your acer laptop comes with the Vista CD? I just bought the same laptop too and I was wondering why there isn't one. Thanks!
Happy holidays! -
i cant get gigabit to work on my local network here at office. no 1000duplex available
-
Hmm, It's been a pretty long time since i've been able to visit this thread!
Tottalyspies, no it didn't come with a VISTA CD but a genuine copy was already installed, and I had asked them to make me back up DVDs of the Vista. I never really asked the logic behind that.
Reiluke, I'm sorry I dont understand what you mean. -
I've been using my laptop for over a year now and I'm happy to say that it's still alive and kicking!
It's as fast as it was but the battery is a big let down for me. But I guess that's what happens when you're constantly plugged in and sometimes I leave it overnight.
My favorite program is ccleaner and it seems to help alot!
