    Hello
I have an Aspire 5102WLMi with the above mentioned Processor.
    (AMD Turion 64x2 1.6ghz TL50).

I have no idea what the operating temps for this should be (I think I found some specs on the AMD site which said it operated within the 49c - 65c range....but I'm not really sure I had the exact processor spec sheet).

    1. Does anyone know what a good operation temp range should be?

    2. Can you recommend a good monitoring tool that would work with this processor?

This is my first Laptop so I'm not used to compatible monitoring type programs like I am with my desktop.
For example, on my desktop I have used:
    MBM5 (discontinued)
    Sensorsview
(And of course programs like "Everest")
I'm not sure if these programs were designed for a Laptop..especially with this relatively newly released Processor.

I prefer a program like one of the first two that sits in the system try so you know how things are running (temp wise).

Anyone know a good program to do this that will work with this Laptop and Processor?
Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

a good program would be notebook hardware control. found at http://www.pbus-167.com/chc.htm
this program does everything you want.

well i have a core duo but i would think it applies to all processors the cooler the better. so if its lower than 50C at idle you should be fine and it shouldn't go over 60C at load.

    Thank you bugmenot9....looks interesting.

The only thing that might concern me about that is I'm still using the Acer ePowering software, which seems to do a pretty good job of actual hardware monitoring and power management, so I'm afraid the two might conflict with each other.

I was looking more for a very basic Temp only monitoring program. (Something the Acer Software doesn't have)

Thanks for the link though....I bookmarked it. :)
Looks pretty cool for the future when I reformat and do a clean install, but for now everything is working so well I'm going to hold off on a clean install.

Interesting...are you using (or does your model have), the "epower management" system tray option, where you can select cpu speed, brightness, turn off Card Bus, Wired Lan, etc, by right clicking on the tray icon depending on use? (Battery, AC etc.)

If you're having no conflicts, I may give it a try.

    Thanks again.

P.S. I'm on my desktop right now, so I can't remember all the options, but you know what I mean I'm sure.

The temp range of 35C-39C(idle) to 69C(max) is what I would say is the operating temperature for the Turion X2. Thats what mine stays usually.

I use Core Temp. So far it has been very accurate...

Thank you for that info miner!

And that program looks to be more what I'm interested in....something primarily for the Temps.

    Appreciate the replies guys. :)

Thanks friedclyde, but that's actually the same link bugmenot9 posted above. (Appreciate the thought though)

For now, the link that miner provided is EXACTLY what I was looking for! :)

A small program, doesn't require installation, and works great! (For the one thing I wanted...temperature monitoring!)

    Thanks again to all!
