My AO722 "froze" so I removed the battery. After I replaced the battery and rebooted it would not run off of the battery; it runs on the A/C power only. As soon as I remove the A/C cord the netbook shuts off completely. If I leave the A/C cord plugged in and disconnect it at the wall it shuts down completely (this tells me the microswitch at the A/C plug is working OK).
I contacted ACER support and they had me do the following:
1. Disconnect the AC adapter from the laptop.2. Remove the battery. 3. Press and hold the power button for about 30 seconds then release it. (You will not see anything happening) 4. Connect the AC Adapter to the laptop. Make sure the AC Adapter is plugged in.5. Insert the battery. 6. Power on computer as normal.
That did not work so they sent me a new battery. That did not solve the problem either.
When running on A/C and the battery is in the meter shows 100%. If I remove the battery (with the A/C still on) the battery meter indicates no battery detected. This tells me the netbook is recognizing the battery (at least as far as charging is concerned). The battery led is blue and when I plug in the A/C cord the "lightbulb" led is blue.
I did a system restore back to the factory settings since I really have not used it that much and that did not solve the problem.
One note-when I removed the battery the first time the latch was hard to move and I accidently pushed it down. It popped back up. As far as I can tell there is not microswitch under the battery latch that could have been damaged.
Everything else works fine and there are no error messages when booting up.
When the A/C cord is unplugged, the netbook will not start on battery power.
Now I have a netbook that I can not use unless an A/C power outlet is nearby.
Any ideas as to how to solve???

Make sure that the contact "fins" on the notebook (the metal conductors I mean) are straight and clean.
If it's not that you should send it to service center.
