I've had an aspire 6920 for a little over a month now and im generally happy with it. I just have a few issues:

    1. Recently, every time i play call of duty 4, ive been getting a display driver has stopped responding but has recovered error. When this happens, the screen flashes for a while, goes blank, and then returns to normal and i can continue on with the game. The problem will not happen again until i quit the game and start playing again at a later time. I've read that its driver issues, but how come its happening more often now? i dont think the system is overheating because sometimes it happens right when i start to play.

    2. I've been getting rundll32 errors everytime i wake the system from hibernation. I also sometimes get it when UAC asks for confirmation when running a program. This has been a problem since the very first day that i got the laptop. Faulting module is user32.dll.

Could the two problems be related? Any insights or help would be appreciated.

    Thanks in advanced

I've had the second one previously, but the first is news to me.
I've yet to have a driver crash.

uhm, you may to try to update graphics card drivers. i recently updated mine (using Acer 6920G with nvidia 9500m gs) and i havent seen those annoying rundll errors when resuming from standby or UAC or hibernation nor any crashes when playing games. cheers!

laptopvideo2go.com good place to start if you're using nvidia graphics

    i'm currently using 175.19
    http://www.laptopvideo2go.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=19307

so far no dll errors nor game crashes (tested using World in conflict dx10 mode and dx9 mode)

be sure to also download the modded inf to be able to install to 9500. just extract the drivers then overwrite the old inf file with the modded one. if you still need help, dont hesitate to ask

@camote You may try the 169.09 driver form laptopvideo2go too, it seems that it's the most stable so far..

it seems updating to 175.19 has made the problem go away. One problem though, i now can't seem to play the blu-ray sample disc that came with the laptop. An error from acer arcade deluxe comes out about either incompatible drivers or dual monitor set-ups... any help?

i dont know if i really wanna go to a driver older than the one my machine currently has.. i guess i'll just wait for acer to release new drivers... given that the problem was fixed when i upgraded im pretty sure its just a driver issue and not a hardware one. Can the problem get any worse or will it just stay the way it is with the driver issue? if its the latter i can just wait for acer to release new drivers.

When it comes to videocard drivers, newer/older doesn't really matter..You take the driver that is the most stable and most compatible with your hardware/software.

I had a t8100 version and this erros didn´t appear. I bought the t8300 version and appeared since the first time i turned on my notebook. i think, too, is a driver problem not hardware.

sorry, because my english level is low.

the reason why you lost bluray playback is that when you installed 175 drivers, they were not signed appropriately(probably) and thus bluray playback is hampered.

playback of highdef content is process protected in vista and requires that graphics drivers are signed thus bluray playback was lost.

Nice find - it's weird that it's on the Acer Euro FTP, but not the North American support page yet.
Is there usually a delay for the trans-Atlantic jump?

Don't thank me, JBN, thank geek_gad above.
Now, if it fixed the issues with Team Fortress 2 & Audiosurf that my system has developed YET AGAIN, I'll be giving +rep too.

yup i updated to these drivers last week or two weeks ago... which is another story by itself coz the first few times i tried updating i ended up with a blank screen...

anyway, finally got them working and have bluray playback again coz its WHQL signed... but ive been having problems with its powermizer... even if im playing a game, it'll downclock and won't go up again... so i end up with crappy fps and rendering errors...

i tried turning powermizer off through the registry keys but most of the keys werent here. new drivers i guess? so i edited perflevelsrc coz thats all i could find.. so far the gpu doesnt seem to be downclocking anymore...

anyone else have problems like this?

Thanks for the rep but unfortunately, after observing the laptop for a bout a day, it still downclocks... and the moment it downclocks it seems to get locked to the lower clock speeds. The only way to fix it is to do a restart.

has anyone gotten around this problem?
