Ok, I have a serious question about battery life that I cant seem to get answered.

The 1810tz (my preferred laptop) has a rated battery life of 8 hours ( LINK )

That is with a SU4100 processor, Intel GMA 4500MHD and a (6 cell) 5600 mAh battery.

Now, lets look at the UL 30: ( LINK )

It has a SU7300 processor, Intel GMA 4500MHD and a (8 cell) 5600 mAh battery.

But, unlike the timelinex- Its rated at 12 hours, not 8.

Why? Shouldnt the times be nearly the same, since the mAh is equal?

First of all: funny that Asus uses 8 cells, while Acer uses 6 cells to get the 5600mAh. Does that mean there are weight differences between those 2?
Secondly, DO NOT TRUST ADVERTISMENT NUMBERS! Sorry, that must be in caps. Use numbers that users produced and that different reviews of those laptops produced. They will use real life scenarios you can actually rely on. Those advertising "x hours +" are usually done at unrealistic settings using unrealistic programs which have no value at all. I have seen people claim 11:xx hours of battery life with the 1810TZ at lowest setting, brightness etc. That doesn't mean anything.
Personally, I think the 1810 should be marginally better because of the smaller display. But since there will be variation from laptop to laptop, they should be pretty equal overall, give or take half an hour.

i've been scrutinizing both of these for a few days now.

the acer has a marginally better cpu and one extra GB ram (though the ram seems to be ddr2, not ddr3)

other than that the asus has better hdd, battery time, features (express-gate), build quality (my opinion)

however, i like the slightly smaller form factor of the acer.. but my head say the asus is better value for money
