Ok, I just did a fresh install of WinXP Pro. I installed all the drivers on the panam website without a hitch .. except for the audio drivers. After installing v5.10.0.5247, I get an runtime error for "AzMixerSel.exe".

After a reboot, I see the drivers are installed, but they don't show up under the Device Manager, and of course the sound doesn't work.

When I try uninstalling the drivers, I get an error : "Realtek HD drivers Removal Failure".

I tried installing other versions but I still get the same problems.

Can anyone help me out or give me step-by-step instructions on how to fix this problem ? Thanks !

Ok, I finally got things workings. For the record, here's a step-by-step installation process for the Realtek HD Audio drivers:

    1. Download latest audio drivers from Acer's support page.
    2. Once extracted, go to /MSHDQFE/Win2K_XP/ and install the UAA Bus drivers.
    3. Restart the computer.
    4. Run the Setup.exe within the main folder to install the Realtek audio drivers.
    5. You might also need to install the modem driver afterwards, which are also available on the support website.

Thanks so much guys, I finally got it working!! In the end it was a combo of both of what you said.

    1. install the UAA Bus drivers
    2. install the newest Realtek HD audio driver (R1.47 as of now)
    3. After installation, go to device manager and update driver for the PCI device. Choose to browse for the driver in C:\Program Files\Realtek\InstallShield

    Hello,

I have tried all of the steps listed above to try and get my spdif output to work. My speakers and headphones work without a problem, but I can not enable the sound control or any control for spdif in the windows sound options. The realtek program lets me check enable optical out, but nothing happens when the cable is plugged in. Any ideas? Thanks!
