    Hi,

I'm considering buying the following laptop:

    https://www.pcsnel.nl/details.asp?productid=837007&refid=1504

(sorry, it's in Dutch, but I think the specs are self-explanatory)

    Acer Aspire 5920G-5A4G25BN
    Intel Core 2 Duo T5550 (1,83 ghz)
    VHP 15.4TFT WXGA CB
    4096MB
    250GB HD 5400 rpm Blu-r-LX.AKS0X.214
    NVIDIA GeForce 8600M GT

I would also like to play games like Crysis and Assassin's Creed on it.

I just want to know if it's a decent laptop (quality/durability-wise) and if it's powerful enough to play the afore-mentioned games.

    Any good/bad experiences with it?

    Thanks a lot!

    Hoi :).

This model has old Merom CPU (T5550). Overall Aspire 5920G is good home/gaming/multimedia notebook. Don't expect miracles with GeForce Go 8600M GT. Crysis needs very powerful hardware. :(

I don't see in that site new Aspire 6920G (just 8920G). If you can find buy the new Aspire 6920G as for the same money is better from 5920G.

But according to this the laptop is MXM which means its GPU upgradable..

Make sure to check out all the things that you're interested of, coz it's a lot of money. Whatever you choose I hope you don't regret it :)

Interesting! How 'old' is old? As per the link below, it says that the T5550 is a Jan 2008 release.

    Cheers!

The Asus probably the better laptop - it has a faster graphics card (8600gt ddr3 versus the 8600gs ddr2 in the acer)

However its dearer (last time I looked approx £900 versus under £600 for the Acer). Also it has a a really high resolution which you may or may not like (personally I like things slightly bigger rather than having to squint to read text but its a matter of opinion.
