Hi, why do you think you need to, have you a problem with your BD drive?
You could cause more problems if you are not careful..

Anyones power button make a crunching sound? Sounds like a small piece of flexible plastic moves when powering up.

Not a problem all works well just wondered if its a design flaw.

Gazza, I've opened the system up - there is physically no room for a second hard drive. The specs page for the 6920G might've been mindlessly copied over from the 8920G, which can accept two HDDs.

@TehSuigi, yes, thats what i thought when i opened up also but was hoping i had found another upgrade option, looks like i might be in the market for a 500gb drive then. my 320gb has had random problems since new, occasionally i get disk errors and 1 or 2 corrupted files, but very random.

Ey guys i could use some help. My Drive C is suddenly show low available memory. Most of my data is on drive d, especially the big movie and music folders. I never really noticed the memory on drive c. i just know that i used drive d a lot more. The other day though, my drive c suddenly just showed 5 gigabytes of free space left! suspecting a virus, i did an anti-virus scan using mcaffee and none were found. The next day it went back up to around 10 gigabytes and stayed there for a while.. today it dropped by 3 gigabytes... what's wrong? is my hard drive about to fail on me?

Well, it's not hot-swappable, but all it takes is a single screw to remove the ODD and pop in one of these beauties.

Found somthing else that most latops just dont do well compared to this one :)

I use skype all the time to talk to my girlfriend as she lives miles away, in another country in fact :/ A headset was a must as using the speaker and the intergrated Mic just created a really bad echo. With this laptop no matter how loud i have it she can hear me great with no headset and no echo can be heard..... Sweet. Found that the intergrated Mic was very sensative too so another thumbs up for this great peice of kit. She heard me fart the other day haha :p

Occasionally it sort of weirds out resulting in some distortion, but closing any noise-making programs and re-opening the music/video file fixes it without fail.

Hi I am new here. I own a Acer 6920G and I would like 2 format the protected partition because my Acer eRecovery dosent work anymore. Lucky I've made a recovery backup but let say if I use live CD and format the whole harddisk, can I use the acer recovery disc to install back my windows cause I do not have any vista installation disc to install back.

Ouch thats a pretty poorly battery you have there :(

Out of interest how was you using it on battery? Didi you let it run completely flat?

As far as im aware only heat can damage a battery and letting it run down fully.

Hey, remember how I said that the 1.10 BIOS update fixed the overheating problem?
Yaaaaa...it's still happening. Far less frequently, but TF2's combination of CPU and GPU stress always seems to set it off.
Methinks it's time to undervolt moar.

well, i did condition the battery as in the acer manual but then i tend to run it on battery until it needs charging. i should remember to take out the battery when eg gaming or backing up as then it is on mains all the time. i will try to get replacement anyway, under warranty, its only 6 months old, or just buy one.

I have a Acer 6920 (not the G version and running Vista x64) which has an on board fingerprint reader, which doesn't work. It will read my finger, show that it got a good finger print. It does this 6 times, then tells me that the finger print verification failed. I was able to produce the same results on the floor model of my unit at the store I purchased it at. Acer support is "zero" help as usual. Any ideas? I suspect its vista 64x version drivers for the reader.

Also, I am looking at upgrading my cpu from the T5750 to the T9500. Are there any 'ES' cpus that are better than the rest for this notebook?

I wouldn't say so, Michals. The FPR on my Vista-64 6920G works just fine.
I admit, getting the fingerprint registered with the program in the first place is a bit of a hassle, but that's because it needs as close to the same swipe three times to register. If you change how you swipe from time to time, it won't work.
Personally, the FPR's kinda sketchy to begin with, but when it works, it works well.

As for the CPU upgrade, the best engineering sample is NO engineering sample. They are not meant for sale or resale, and maybe have stability and performance issues. Do yourself a favour, and just get the retail model.
Or save some cash and just get the T9300 - it's only 100 MHz slower.

Sometimes the finger printer thing can't seem to recognize your finger. To be safe, I scanned every single one of my fingers. When I login, I swipe different fingers until it gets a green circle.

I'm too lazy to use password to login.

I believe the term is "DAYUMN." I spent $1099 CAD when the 6920G launched for a config that had a slower CPU and a Blu-Ray drive.
Go for it - that 9500M GS is a great little GPU for the price.

I was playing a PS1 game call Final Fantasy 9 with a PSX emulator. Some reason my CPu went berserk, rose to like 80%. I'm afraid to run that game again. I don't know why it does that. It's only a PS1 game.

Partly because emulation of even fifth-generation consoles like PS1 and N64 is surprisingly CPU-intensive.
And I would avoid talking about that sorta stuff on NBR - it's rather illegal.

Im looking to buy a new OS to get 64 bit and put in a 2 gb stick of ram. Im trying to make it run better for games I have on it. I can barely run COD4 and World of Warcraft doesnt run as smoothly as i want it to. So the sum of my upgrade is about $125. I wana know if its worth it or if its a bad idea or tips.

I'm not sure to switch to 64Bits OS will improve performances in Game. The problem is more from your graphic card.

@TKS4242: please post specs for better help (laptop model, cpu, gpu, and os). you have a 6920? new os will not help, old xp is still fastest. graphics card will generally be your bottleneck. i have changed out my graphics card for 9600 and that has made huge difference :D
clean os on separate partition is also good.

this drove me crazy when i changed to 64-bit also. changed registry setting,

    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Validity\vfs101]
    "swipeDirection"=dword:00000001

google for reverse swipe trick (cant remember where i got it), i now only swipe from front to back and it works first or 2nd time :)
