I have an acer aspire 6920g, vista home premium 32 and a wd3200bekt ( wd 320gb 7200rpm )
i have recently run a hdtune test and the results that bother me are :
68mb -burst speed
cpu utilization - 20% these resutls are with vista's generic sata drivers from intel from 2006
with intel matrix storage installed, results are as follows :
122mb - burst speed
cpu utilization - 4.8%
also with intel matrix the graph is more linear and not that "up-down" as with the vista generic sata drivers
my question is : Should i leave the generic drivers on or install intel matrix storage ??? Will intel matrix storage affect my laptop ? ( damage something - chipset, hdd , motherboard ?
ps : i have the ahci option activated in bios
-
Why would the Intel MSM damage your hardware - you have an Intel chipset and an Intel SATA controller!
I've been using it on every one of my systems as part of my basic driver installations.
Make a System Restore point (just in case) and install the MSM.
(keep in mind that MSM also enables Native Command Queuing, which further boosts performance) -
i was asking because without intel matrix, hdtune can show my hdd info ( sata/ide mode, buffer size, capacity , etc ) and with intel hdtune won't show anything in the info section - i thought it was causing some compatibility issues.
