    ASPIRE 5670 Duo core 1.66 mhz, 1 CPU shows 982hz speed

    i clicked properties on My Computer and it shows one CPU running at 1.66 ghz and other at 982 mhz, whats up?

    When the CPU has not much to do,it reduces the clock speed for power-saving.

    It's called speed stepping, it does this by default and it a very powerful feature. Would you like to waste your battery life on your CPU when it is not needed? Running full bore and all out when in reality you need only 900mhz or less to check your mail or surf the web? ;)

    I have Aspire 5112 WLMi - AMD Turion 64 X2 1.6Ghz Dual Core and when I click on properties on My Computer it just shows AMD Turion 64 X2 Mobile technology TL 50 1.60 Ghz.It does not show CPU speed for each core separately,is this normal for my model??
