Just thougt I'd drop this in for those thinking about buying the Aspire 5672WLMi. Voted "Best of Best" in the 'Mainstream' catagory for the April '06 issue of Laptop Magazine.

    I know I love mine! :)

Weird considering how many faults it has.

only thing I think they have scrimped on is the graphics card only havig a 64bit memory bus.
    otherwise its fine.
it runs fast enough for current games, its just a shame that they dont appear to have used an mxm slot for the graphics.

the processor and ram are easily upgradeable this machine can take 4gb Ram, which is rare for a notebook.
the hard disk is sata, and later hard drive models will enable higher hdd performance.

Its a great machine especially for the price!

The only thing stopping me from getting the 5672 is the complaints that i've been hearing.

    That and it's a 15.4" and not a 14" :(

what complaints, the Omegadriver allows you to change clock of gpu
and the screen is great, not everyone wants massive resolutions
1280x800 is a great mid range resolution for the size of the screen.

Easy to use, and once its been tweaked, a real monster of a machine

Pretty much all branded machines need tweaking, except the "boutique" machines which are pre-tweaked for show-off potential, but they usually cost much more :)

Its simply great value for money.

What faults? I haven't had ANY Matt. Well, I take that back, I did have a buzzing whenever I touched the touchpad, found out it was feedback (RF) from having the mic or line-in on, once I shut that off no more buzz.

Other than that small tweak, I haven't had a problem. This is by far the best laptop I've ever owned, especially for the price. I don't even have 2 gig of ram on my desktop!

Steady on there mate! Give the 5672 a burl before you start rubbishing it! I'm rapt with mine.

there are a fair few similarities between the asus and acer machines
the ASUS machines do look great,
Acer have improved the looks of their laptops over the past year, and they are pretty sleek machines.
