    BIG PROBLEM !!! HELP

I have the aspire 5672 (duo 1.66/1GB/100) with a x1400, and everytime I start some application that`s use the video card like games or movie, my laptop simple shut down, anytime, with no advice!!!
After a long study and reinstallation of OS and driver, I find out what could be the problem, but i really don`t have sure about it!!!
So, i cahnged the original driver to omega driver to try solve the problem. After install the omega driver, I had tested some games, and the problem still, then I change the video card "performance" to "Balanced" on Powerplay(tm) of the driver, its seems to be fixed the problem, but its not fully understandable.
I dont know if the problem is voltage of my video card, or clock, or overheating, or anything else....
Could anyone help me to figure this out???
Btw, with the PowerStrip software I check my clock at the Balanced performance and is: Engine: 391 Mhz - Memory: 252 Mhz
when at optimal the Engine: 446 Mhz - Memory: 342 Mhz
    Thanks a lot

    probably heat.

get some type of software that monitors temps. if it's getting over 80degc that's your problem...

erm, I wouldn't use omega drivers. Aparenlty there are bugs associated with the X1000 series cards at the moment.

I can`t monitor the temp of my VC, only the CPU and HDD :( . Actually I don`t have idea what program would monitor temp of my VC....
My CPU rounds about 46°C when running something like games...

Could be a problem only in my note?

    Anyone suggest something different?

Apparently the CPU temp includes an average of the CPU and GPU.

If you are running around 46degc while gaming, you have the coolest running 5672 in the world. Most have over 50degc while idling...

I suspect your temp tool is not giving an accurate reading. Try NHC.

Hmm, intersting, well, right now Im using Intel Thermal Analyse Tool (im currectly running, excel, bitcomet and other softwares, about 18% cpu usage, with battery) and the temp its about to 41 CPU 1 and 39 CPU 2 (Duo core).
Maybe its because im in a room with air conditioned...

You told me that the temp is a average of CPU and GPU, this information proceed?

Same times the surface of my note gets real hot, but i think its because the HDD, its get really hot (55deg), and practically the most of notebook heat came from this part....

Very strange that the HD gets that hot. It will probably fail being that hot -- mine did. Your hard drive should be closer to 40degc. All the heat on most people's 5672 comes from the right of the touch pad.
