    We have identical notebooks, only difference is, mine is still all stock settings. Im wondering why installing updated Nvidia drivers, has caused you overall Windows exprience index to fall to 4.6, whilst mine is 4.7.
    [IMG]

    Additionally, my stock drivers are 7.15.11.119
    Different to yours?

    Otherwise your other tests such as SuperPI are identical.

    If you have it surely it should already be enabled?
    In the start menu there should be an item called Intel Turbo Memory Console. If its not enabled, I think you can aactivate it there.

    As for checking that its working, I've no idea if it actually is. However, I hardly ever hear my hard dive spin, else its extremely quiet.

    Anyone who has accessed the inside of the notebook??

    Does it have any protection in order to lose warranty if you open it??

    Mine arrives tomorrow and I 'm seriously thinking applying new thermal paste in order to get better temps..

    Hrmmm, just did 3DMark 06' again and got 2889. Must of been on drugs or something, but now that seems way low. Don't know what's up here. It seems to think I have some ghetto generic video card though.

    Here are the scores from my USA 5920G Best Buy model with 1.5ghz processor.... Are these scores good for only having the 1.5ghz, instead of having the UK 2.0ghz processor.

    All test were run with stock drivers, and no overclocking.

    3DMark06 score 3074.

    3DMark05 score 5162.

    3DMark03 score 8323.

    3DMark2001se score 15,895.

    I also started this 5920G 1.5ghz to 2.4ghz upgrade thread;

    The 1.5ghz model will play everything out there today...

    But especially the older games (and there are a ton of them) with everything maxed out, as you can see by my 3DMark2001se score of 15,895 (and thats useing the stock driver, and no overclocking).

    At first... I was weary about the 1.5ghz core 2 duo speed... Until i heard it equals an older P4 of 2.4ghz-3.0ghz in speed... The core 2 duo is a great processor at any speed... Although... I still will stuff in a 2.4ghz core 2 duo when i have the extra $$$... Just to say i have it!!!

    Buy it and don't look back... It's the best bang for the $$$$!!

    Yes If you remove your warranty protection lable(You can bend it bit.I already remove my hdd.) you will lose your warranty.
    Anyway why are you applying thermal paste again.I'm from sri lanka and my ambient temperature is always 30c ,but this baby never hit 90c when i run ORTHOS for test its heat :D .

    My advice is wait till your warranty period(Just 1 year)

    Are you sure you run 3Dmark06 test with default program setting :rolleyes:

    Yes this lappy handle STALKER superbly (1280 x 720 With high setting + Medium HDR level & Anisotropic filtering , but no Antiallising ) :D

    Picture Quality is V-Good :cool:

    Well bispin sth very important about the card.It has steps like the 8800.

    For example when you set 630 it clocks at 675.Try using the riva tuner monitoring to see exactly the speed.

    And yeah there are some drivers that don't allow you to oc... :mad:

    Ahaaaaaaaaaaaa.....I got what you say.It mean you set 630Mhz by application (Riva or ATI Tool),But your Riva Monitor show 675mhz instead of actual set value.

    Mine show the same results as you.When I set GPU 630Mhz,Riva monitor show 675Mhz(+-1Mhz).

    How much hotter does the card get with overclock speeds at 3900+?

    The difference seems enormous, but how much performance does an overclock from stock driver scores to overclocked scores affect performance?

    It's about 8C hotter..

    Well the first scores are with the drivers that the laptop came,because some others I tried couldn't let me overclock,and they are veeeery old.

    But then found 165.01 that let you overclock.The scores with default clocks will also be higher but didn't have time to bench...

    I will try later to add these too...

    Does this 8600GT use DDR2 or DDR3?

    The Asus C90S guys got their panties in a bunch cause the 512MB MMXII 8600GT uses DDR2. With a 2.4ghz CPU they get under 3000 3dmark06

    I'm pretty sure the 512MB 8600m GT doesn't have the turbo-cache that our 256MB has.. I wouldn't dout that the 3DMark06 pushes the envelope in every way... and that our 8600m GT is activating the turbo cache up to the 1.00MB.

    Just a thought.... As 3Dmark06 is a very intensive benchmark.

    No doesn't have to do with vga memory..

    It's intensive but needs gpu power more than vram.256mb is enough for running at default settings.

    Just to make sure I ran it and monitored max vram utilization with riva tuner..

    Return To Proxycon ---> 215mb
    Firefly Forest ---> 236mb
    Red Valley 1 ---> 55mb
    Red Valley 2 ---> 55mb
    Canyon Flight ---> 242mb
    Deep Freeze ---> 247mb

    don't want to hijack your thread, but since it's popular with owners of 5920G I figure I might get an answer here. Can you guys launch Media Center and tell me if you see TV options there (you don't need tuner for that)

    Just launch the hardware monitorind,then select setup.

    There you can find and enabale plug ins for temps,vram,system ram,pagefile,cpu utilization,gpu core,shaders,ram clocks etc...

    Then you can select them and through the setup button show them in OSD.. :)

    Riva tuner.

    But from what I saw it doesn't take any values for Vram usage...Maybe it's not supported with this vga,or maybe the drivers I'm using don't support it..

    (the utilization above was monitored at my desktop pc)

    It does have turbo-cache. Probably a driver bug or similar as 512MB version should be faster. Will see as there is (or should already be) 5920G available with 512MB DDR2 (in germany at present)

    EDIT: for some reason this answer was published a little late. Sorry for that. :/

    hey, I've been OCin' my graphics and I get much higher temps on the chip than reported here by some users on the extreme MHzs. Are you just competing in 3DMark scores or really boosting performance??!
    So far I slowly rised my core upto 529MHz and memory to 445MHz (a bit more than 10% increase) and my temps get upto 90-91degrees in prolonged use (56deg on idle, 82 on standart clocks for my temp sesnsor) This setting gives 3601 in 3DMark06 and looks like can be used all the time.

    I bought Half-Life 2 today to play on the 5920G with Acer OEM drivers.

    Enabling AA in HL2 video options immediuately causes graphic glitches so I had to turn it off.

    Without AA enabled the game playes well but once in a while the graphics get corrupted on the screen. The game does not crash but graphics go bad and can't see anything millions of triangles and texture corruptions.

    Work around is to ALT-TAB out of game I see GPU temp on desktop is 82C
    then I go back into the game and all is well and just continue.

    Not perfect but better than Doom3 which crashed hard. So now I'm 2 for 2.
    Both games with issues with the 5920G, Vista. :(

    Well after some testing,I found that the vga at about 96C slows down to 2d clocks,in order to prevent damage.

    Cpu temperature warning is at 80C and shutdown at 95C.

    CPU high temp 80-88C is OK (Normaly Lappys hit that high when using proccessor sensitive apps).
    I test using Orthos Priority9 12min & never hit 87C
    When CPU hit 90C it will start Throttling :cool:
