I downloaded and ran PCMark05 tonight. My score was 3924, not sure if this is good for having the 1.5ghz processor 5920G.

After looking at that review it does seem low... But if PCMark05 is processor intensive... Then having a 1.5ghz vs 2.0ghz would make a big difference.. Also i have a 2MB L2 cache vs the 4MB of the 2.0ghz chip.

    Yes 667,

I just changed drivers from stock to 162.18 and my 3DMark03 score jumped from 8323 to 9213. :D

I also noticed more nvidia menu options... but are not sure if these were here before?

Let me know how you liked them, and on what games.

Hey... Maybe i'm seeing things, but after i installed the 162.18 drivers and set the "Digital Vibrance" to 47 it seems that my viewing angle from the side has increased greatly without having that washed out effect.

    Hey guys...

Quick question... Now that i have tried several different drivers... I guess i can rule them out as the cause... Here's the problem, when i go to open up the nvidia control panel advanced properties (where all the good stuff is)... It takes like-forever, i swear alomost four minutes to open!! I think it's the 1.5ghz speed or Vista causing it, because alot of my apps. seem slow to open.

    Anyone else notice this?

No the Nvidia control panel takes forever on my laptop too. Not four minutes, but definetly over a minute the first time its opened on a boot, and then less than a minute after that.

The stock drivers control panel opened sluggish but usually within 15 seconds or less.

Yes i said that.I'm going to try 162.22/162.18/163.11 to see STALKER performance + Blu-Ray Disk perfomance (Have some issues with 158.45) :D

Yesterday I Brought LG Blu-Ray Driver & 158.45 have playback issue.I try to play thru Nero Showtime & Acer Arcade sometimes colours getting dark or get blur.
BTW Frame rate is good ;)

    (Brought 5.25 USB Enclosure & I fix blu-Ray Driver to it :D )

I bought an Acer 5920G just 3 weeks ago. But I am already seeing battery wear. It is at 5% now.

My last laptop was an Acer 5583. It also shown some battery wear early in its life. Within just 7 months, wear level was at 50%.

What could be the cause? Can I prevent this from happening?

Battery is supposed to be pretty good on the 5920 - comes equipped with an 8 cell.
Maybe your charging the battery when it hasn't fully ran out?

    XP 3DMark05 on Acer 5920G

Default setting no overclock. XP still rules.
Not much for benchmarks, my Desktop P4HT beats this laptop in 3D Mark05 but in real games, this laptop is up to 3 times faster.

Not exactly XP rules rather nVidia drivers for Vista suck.
My ATI notebook has almost the same score on Vista and XP.

Anyways 3D Mark 06 score for 5920G on XP is said to be around 3450 (1280x800, no OC).
Can you confirm? Some OC scores would be helpful too as hopefully nVidia will improve Vista drivers...

That's completely not true. Acer has an RF laboratory in Taiwan (they claim to be the only notebook manufacturer to own one). Acers two use PIFA antennas placed on top of the LCD panel.

    Read this: http://global.acer.com/products/notebook/technical/signalup.pdf

What's more I often carry my ACER around and I use Wi-Fi in places other laptops don't even detect the signal. I've compared it with Toshiba using Intel card and Maxdata (Uniwill made) with D-Link card (this was a PC Card though).

Still not everything depends on antenna- my laptop is AMD based so it has mini-PCI with Broadcom card that I find very good. Don't know about the Intel cards though.

Yeah, saw that. As the notebook has an option of digital TV tuner, I think it was designed with an option of UMTS modem. Or is it for TV tuner (decoder maybe?)

If not mistaken initially it was suppose to include Wimax, 3.5G, Edge and so on. Maybe just need the correct module to be insert into the mini-pci slot

Got same lappy, just wonder which driver should I use to have a driver-level over clock enabled? Cause I used 163.71, 163.44, 163.69 and on all of this drivers on vista in Riva Tune all settings which I select are not activating, they just go to it standard values after I press ok :(

BTW you can flash your VGA BIOS to OC your card.(see my signature )

Anyone have successfully overclocked their CPU?

if yes what did you use (software, bios hack, pin bridge)?

My impression on the 5920G (1.5ghz)
I love this laptop, I little on the big size (prefer 14 inch)
love the outside design, hate the inside design (look like a toy)
    Lots of potential...

You know, I’ve made a lot of tests comparing OC card and not. Here is my results:

    3Dmark06:
Default in 1280 was 3235 and after OC became 3846
Default in 1024 was 3855 and after OC became 4566
    BTW I chosen 590\470

That’s a good result, but only in 3dmark. In game I didn’t see any difference. I played HL2, Bioshock, Lost Planet, no changes. I’ve made some tests in Quake 4 and here is my result: in default I’ve got 72 FPS and in OC 76 that’s fine but not enough.

So in conclusion I can say that I don’t see any necessity in video card over clocking. I’ve got much more performance increase when switch from vista to XP.

Bigspin, how do you think, is it possible to make 8600MGT GPU voltmod with the purpose of reducing energy consumption and fan noise. For example lower voltage for 2D mode from 1.15V to 1.0 may reduce GPU temperature up to 15-20% (theoretically :) ). Nibitor provides that feature, but how would it might affect the stability?
