Above is valid only if the system supports dual-channel...

jth00r2n, to my knowledge you model is in fact a Socket 754 system. This means that it does NOT support dual channel. To be more clear, all AMD skt. 754 CPU's do not support dual channel, only single channel (as you know, the memory controller is in fact in the CPU).

    nicolin,

Actually I believe it is a Socket S1 Sempron(DDR2 memory support), from what minimal informations available ablu these, it should be able to support dual channel memory.

    jth00r2n,
Maybe Acer have some issues with the MB and have disabled it(speculation) or maybe CPU-Z cannot identify it properly. Have you tried identifying it with any other utility? If you still want dual channel memory then try using another stick of RAM. The Corsair might not be exactly compatible with the stock Acer memory.

This model does supprt dual channel. The specs of the memory module matched the specs that was included with the laptop. I didnt think i needed 2 of the same brand, just as long as the specs mached up.

I also notice this error upon booting up the machine with the 2 sticks installed

"Memory Configuration Error: Bank Interleave Reqested, but not Enabled"

You need 2 IDENTICAL sticks of RAM. Check the stores and find a kit that comes something like "Dual Channel Kit". That error says it all.

I second that, I got my Aspire 3102WLMi with 1GB DDR2 and CPU-Z clearly states it as running in dual channel mode... On another note, I figure that the 3100 and 5100 series share the same motherboard and chassis, so it should be possible to replace the Sempron64 CPU I have in mine with a Turion X2, true?

From what I've seen from the 3020/5020 series, yes, it should be possible. I think that it's just a matter of 'branding': 5xxx for those fitted with Turion and 3xxx for Sempron.
