My Acer Aspire 5103 constantly wants to update this. The first time it did it it installed itself fine but then when the next bout came it wanted to install it again and failed.

I also get a error message (ATI External Event Utility exe mode has stopped working) which I suspect is related to this.

I have tried to check if it has been installed the first time around but are not sure if it was. The ATI drivers are dated 2006.

I have been reading stuff all over the net saying both this and that and that this update might corrupt my laptop.

So what to do? Try to install it manually as the computer wants me to do or just ignore it.
