Download the first one for 6.4 drivers with Catalyst Control Center. The second one is their version of a control panel. I haven't tried that, but the 6.4's installed without a hitch and some folks on the forums were reporting nice speed increases. Oh, and Powerplay is enabled.

    Thanks for the info. :)
    I have 2 questions:

    1. Can you use ATT to overclock and start the game?
    2. Are they mobility or desktop modded. Because Avivo converter works only with the latter.

    Cheers,

What ATI chip is that X1300 or 1400? What scores were you getting before?

Cheers, might try these on my x1300.

    EDIT:

No luck, didn't want to install. Didn't have high hopes, Omega don't install on mine either. Oh well, back to the Acer 6.1s

    1. I guess you're referring to ATI Tray Tools? I'm just using the Catalyst Control Center with defaults. Powerplay is taking control of the clock speeds.
    2. I think they're desktop modded as the inf has many desktop models listed. How do you use the Avivo converter? I've installed it, but don't see anything to run as an interface.

    Hi clintb,

Yes ATT - ati tray tools. I love this utility becausse I use latencies and extremely high overclocking (415/435 on my x700 128MB). This is giving me over 3100 3dmarks05. :)
I don't use powerplay because it is messed up on my card. Optimal is slower than battery saving mode. I disable the PP and use extreme underclocking in NHC - 90/90 or even 60/80 (no video) and I get like 30 minutes more than the best Powerplay setting.

For Avivo - you must use desktop modded. They are not just the same as mobility. Install them, then Avivo. Start Basic view of CCC and there should be another menu option. Click that and there you go - 1GB vob from DVD into divx (mpeg4) in 31 minutes!

    Cheers,

    Ivan

Well, I followed the steps you outlined for Avivo and it's working. I'm converting the X-Men trailer in 1080p (126MB) to DivX. It took 2min 21sec to do the conversion.

Oh, and how about a very nice speedup in 3d Mark '05?
    Omega 6.3: 4126

So Omegas are not so fast after all? I still might give them a try.

    Thanks for the info.

Okay im a big time newbie here, and gonna sound like a dumbass lol.

But, basicly does this mean Acer Drivers 6.3 for the gfx card = 4220....... and the DHZer0point 6.4 = 4504.
    Big increase in speed.
    Cheers :)

clintb - Are you sure they were Acer 6.3s ? I thought the latest Acer drivers were based on 6.1s? Unless I don't have the latest Acer drivers of course.

Thanks very much for pointing these out. I've just tried these new drivers with my Aspire 5672 (with ATI X1400 GPU) and have had an increase in 3dmark05 from 1638 to 1743. Great to see some improvement!

I tried DH drivers. No luck. :( The same thing - ATT can overclock it and then when I start the game it goes back or restarts. 6.3 are even faster on defaults than 6.4 on defaults. So it is 6.3 for me. Works flawlessly.

Even the newest ATT cannot work with any 6.4 I have tried.

    So thanks anyway.

    Cheers,

So they are better than the latest Omega Drivers? I have those now, so could I technically just remove them and install these? Or would I have to go through some sort of complicated process?

    Yay, excellent drivers!
3Dmark05 score of 1743 (exactly the same as Rob500!) and can use the Avivo video convertor from the control panel - finally! :D
And, M@lew, yes, uninstall the Omegadrivers and simply install these, takes a few minutes but well worth it. After much experimentation, I find these to be the best and most stable drivers out here for my 5672 w/X1400 card.
Nice one, clintb, have a rep point on me!

On my 8204, I used the Catalyst cleaner from ATI, then installed the DHZer0point drivers. That went smooth. For some reason though, on my desktop machine with a 9800 Pro, the drivers won't install and keep reverting back to 6.3's. Oh well, I'm gonna build a new install disk and integrate the 6.4's. That'll force 'em in there. :)

Did you install the Avivo convertor after the drivers? And are you running the CCC in basic view, where it shows up under "Easy setup wizards"?

Quite why ATI doesn't want it displayed under the advanced panel as well, beats me.

I did not set up the Avivo converter. That shouldn't have any effect on the video preview. I can't see the video preview in either the Basic or Advance panels. Even thought I did not make any adjustments to the video settings in previous ATI or Omega drivers it's a little disappointing that I can not see the affects of any changes in this version.

Avivo doesn't work in CCC with this drivers, but intensecure said he started it from control panel. So I guess I should download the CP version, not CCC.

I must admit I am very tired of this stupid Ati game. If they have such good software - why is it so hard to make it work. As far as I know it doesn't work with official mobility drivers. Any x1xx users? Did someone try? Avivo on official mobility 6.4?

    Cheers,

    Ivan

When the official mobility drivers were released I tried them on my 8204 and it was a no-go. I tried mobile mod, but it doesn't support the x1xxx series and I didn't really want to screw with it. So, in summary: I'm using the DHzer0point 6.4's with CCC and the Avivo encoder installed. The encoder is only accesible from the CCC basic view. How stupid is that?

Sorry! I misread your post and got confused with the Avivo Video Convertor    My mistake. Yes, the video preview is missing in the CCC, and looking at the installed size of the CCC packaged with these drivers (65MB) vs the installed size of the ATI original (224MB) I wonder if some things have been omitted.

And @ikovac, again my mistake, I meant the CCC not the control panel, and I was refering to the video convertor, which was one of the reasons that I wanted to upgrade these infuriating  drivers
*Exactly how much did I have to drink that night...

Thanks guys. I reckon DH were made on the modded desktop version then. That explains avivo running from the basic view of the CCC (yes I also think it is stupid).

It is good thing to know. Because I might use those or omegas if I find that they work normally with Ati Tray Tools. Otherwise I don't need them. 6.4 so far was very bad for me. Even the DH - I can't get them to work with Ati Tray tools. And I need ATT for latencies. Not a big deal though, but it works with 6.3 for example. So I wonder what was changed in 6.4 so it doesn't work well with the 6.4?

    Ok anyway - cheers,

    Ivan

The avivo converter with the 6.4's is very cool. I converted a 3GB HDTV file to a 1 GB dvd file in 14 min and the quality is excellent. I have an ati HDTV wonder in my desktop that converts all the different file formats in software, but it is slow compared to this. I think I will have to get a 1000 series card for my main system now!

I get the best score in 3DMark05 using Acer 6.3 - 4530 (default core/memory speed). DH 6.4 dropped it to 4494-4502. I've heard that modded Catalyst 6.2 are the best for OC so far, but I didn't have a chance to try them.

Wow, im a lil bit noob with the overclocking and so, so could u give some extra info how u did it? or is it just a lucky thing that only happens for some people?

i've got an x700 128mb and 512 hyper mem.wat drivers should i use to get results like urs xD. more info on my notebook is in the sig.Thanks.

edit: oh, i just realised that u do have a sig >.< in ur previous post tho.
Oh and another thing. Can my x700 use that avivo thing or is it for 1x00 cards only?

Just go to CCC and turn off that checkbox in Powerplay settings. Or use NHC and go to Graphic and uncheck that Powerplay.

    hi heavenz,

Yes check my sigs, and I can help you if you are having problems. Check a huge ati overclocking thread on this forum.
Avivo can be used if you install any modded desktop drivers (Omega, DH, modded Ati original). You must install CCC though, because it can be reached only through the CCC basic view. I know - it is the most stupid thing I have ever seen.

    Cheers,

    Ivan

Hello, I'm new to this site.

I've got a Travelmate 4500 that's got a 9700 with 64MB RAM on it. I was wondering if the Catalyst 6.4 driver is likely to work with my laptop, and if it's hard to fix it if the driver breaks my system.
    Thanks in advance :)
