I posted this in 4820TG thread but I was wondering if 3820TG and 5820TG owners were seeing the same thing with Catalyst 10.12

    **************

So ATI Catalyst 10.12 came out yesterday and I finally updated my 5650 drivers from Acer stock drivers. I followed the instructions given in this thread. I ran BC2 an hour or so to see if there is any difference and to me it seems like performance had actually went down.

I looked at the temperature monitor and GPU never exceeded 75C. While this is good for the well being of the GPU and the laptop, I noticed severe choppiness in-game when I was playing BC2. Usually I max out at about 79-81C for GPU with previous drivers but I have no problem playing in 32 person server smoothly with native resolution with all settings on low even with my i3 350M.

I'm wondering if ATI put in a limit on the GPU temperature and have it throttle automatically if it was above 75C?

Personally, I'm noticing an increase in temps on my Asus G73 with a 5870. I hit mid 80's where I did not before in certain applications... Weird.

For me the avg temp has dropped about 5 degrees but with it it took performance as well. Anyone also experiencing this?

Hi, if that's the case than there was possibly something borked in your windows setup, unless you used driver cleaner which can cause issues as well. Mine ran ok on my 5920 although the desktop gadgets didn't seem to display correctly. To test the drivers correctly I would have thought it was better to use a timedemo within a game and measure your framerates, 3dmark06 is a little old these days....
