    hello,

i have an ailing(dying) 7730. i want to resurrect EASILY.

fan has always been rubbish and noisy so i would like to upgrade this
i want as much ram as possible, as i use photoshop a fair bit.
cpu i don't want to spend forever setiing up the bios to get it to work or for it to be unstable.
and gpu i don't really know what to look at....

so any help would be great.

    cheers

here is a thread for you about upgrading your laptop.

As for GPU - you can upgrade up to FX770M (MXM-2) or GT240M (MXM-2)/GT330M (MXM-2). But it will not be ease, because you have to find those really rare cards and you have to modify sBIOS and vBIOS of those cards. But the performance increase will be good comparing with your current performance.

I've changed it on my 5920G, so I don't know how much space you have in there. There are at least three options, depending on the size - the smallest, but yet quite the upgrade - MSI GT627 fan (around 5.7cm, fan itself, no bezel), next is M17x-R4 GPU fan (6cm, pretty LOUD), and the last, but the best 8740w fan (7.3cm, pretty silent for what it does). Don't forget to take into account the rotation, so depending on the fan it could be top or bottom mounted. Good luck!

thanks tri, there is quite a lot of room so maybe the 8740w fan will fit! hope i can get something bigger and better in there.
