    I'm planning on buying an Acer 2920 with the new Gemstone design.

    Any opinions about built quality /durability of the new GEMSTONE design??

    i like my gemstone... it's not the BLUE one..

    but i'm pleased with it overall...relativly little flex.. it's about what you should expect from a 7lb laptop.... but it's not my COMPAQ 2700 (which broke the heat sink mounting bolts off the motherboard when it's 12lb butt got droped by my niece!!!)

    The 2920 is 4.4lb. but i think it's the same design.. it's good to hear that you're happy with the machine.
