    Hello,

My wireless network is always inactive...
When I press the "wireless on" button on my keyboard it does not go to active mode? Any tips? Registry fix maybe? Acer aspire 8930g..

Give us some background information. Did you reinstall windows or are you still using factory supplied windows installation ? Are other buttons working? Do you have wireless network adapter listed on Network and Sharing Center -> Change adapter settings? If you do, what options do you have when you right-click on it?

I'm using factory supplied installation. Yes, all 3 buttons are working except Internet button. No I don't have any network connection listed on "Network and Sharing Center", but when I go to manage network connection I see two options, one is Local Area Connection and the other one is Wireless Network Connections.

I'm having the exact same problem!
All the other buttons work but the Wireless Network one doesn't respond.
Did you manage to fix this problem?

Hi guys, same problem here. 8930G also (T9400), factory installed OS.
Working flawlessly for almost a year. This morning (Jan 14th) I disconnected the laptop from power source to access it from my living room (using batteries). So far very usual procedure. When I checked the connection, it was showing "No connections available" or something similar. The WLAN hard button shows the on-screen activation/deactivation message, but no orange blinking light comes up. All other 3 buttons are working ok (web, mail and bluetooth).

My "Network Connections" shows 2 adapters, both enabled: "Intel Wireless Wifi Link 5100" and "Atheros AR8121/AR8113/AR8114 PCI-E EThernet Controller".

Running out of options here... :( any idea?
Thank you very much in advance.

Hi, tried uninstalling then reinstalling the drivers? The Intel Wireless isn't disabled in hardware devices by any chance?

The wifi button is bugger. It takes good 20 seconds for that button to respond. Press it once and wait till the LED comes on. If not, you may have a damaged button.

chriscatt: every device is displayed as enabled. The Intel Utility shows everything is ok about the drivers installed.

sanke1: the LED never comes on. However, the Acer on-screen message ("Wifi activated/deactivated") always appears everytime I touch the button. But no wifi signal whatsoever. Still getting "No connections available".

djpailo: I upgraded the BIOS to v1.10 a long time ago. Never had any problem.

Looks like I have a dead wifi circuit board. But I cannot find a logical explanation of why it happened.

Andreas129/SarCaustic: did you manage to fix the problem?

Thank you all for your comments, but still no clue about what´s going on...

For those who might be interested, problem's been solved.
What did I do? Simply went to Network and Sharing Center, it was showing the broken connection between my computer and internet (the red "X"). Clicked over the "X" and Vista started the diagnosing process... then it showed "turn on wireless activity" as one of the options... (I'm pretty sure I tried it before and this option was not available at the time...)

After I chose the option, the keyboard wifi orange light simply came on.
Believe me, it started to work again as misteriously as it stopped working... I don't know what happened, but it's working now anyway. :p Just wanted to share the info.
    Thank you all.
