    Dear All,

    My laptop is unable to read and list files in the explorer. Dvd seems to spin ok and is recognised by the laptop as a pioneer DVR-K14RA. It does light up when disc is inserted. Also the device driver shows it as the device is fully working. Can even eject the disc from by selecting the drive (E :) from the explorer. A bit confused and can't really understand whether it is a hardware fault or software? Have tried to take it out and put it back in but no joy. Doesn't read the bootable disc either. Would really appreciate if someone can shed some lights on this.

    PS. I haven't run the recovery option to bring it to its original settings.

    Might want to try deleting the IDE drivers.
