Many Acer notebook do have an Intel CPU which is VT-capable. However Acer does not enable this. The last BIOS versions doesnt give an option to switch it on.
Now Windows 7 has an XP-modus which require VT-technology the time is come for ACER to enable the VT-bit in the BIOS for the 7720 (and proberbly more).
How can we push ACER to do this???
TIA,
Willem

Huh, I thought this problem - VT disabled on BIOS level - was outdated and the new Acer models don't have it....
I don't think we can do something about it. What's the reason for disabling VT anyway, does someone knows? -
hmmm if it is outdated.. why not make it available for older systems (my system is only 1 year old..)

Intel VT does work on 5920G and it is like 2 years old. AFAIK there is no option in the BIOS, you just need a VT capable CPU, a program that takes advantage of the VT technology and thats it

I didn't express myself correctly
There should be an option in the BIOS, but Acer didn't found it necessarily to put itThats why I thought maybe he have the same case. I'm pointing at this topic
Edit: I know that there are VT disabled BIOSes -
Why would Acer disable this, what benefit do they gain from it. It makes absolutely no sense to me apart from creating more work for themselves.

VT's enabled on my 6920G - was able to use hardware virtualization in Virtual PC without issues.
-
Is not enabled on the Aspire 5570/5580.

Do we have any contact by Acer where we can drop this? The helpdesk in The Netherlands is not quite willing to help....
TIA

I'm sure the ACER people are aware of this but for some reason they like it that way(or fixing it is costly and they didn't receive enough complains to do so).

Yes... but Windows 7 with XP-box is not usable then on many Acer systems.
If they want to drive the custorms away, then this is the way to do it... -
Verdict: XP Mode gets an F
How many Intel CPUs will fail the XP Mode test in Windows 7?
Acer - Virtual Technology - Windows 7
