I recently purchased an Acer-1410 and did a clean install with Windows 7 professional. My laptop was experiencing problems resuming from sleep when I opened the lid. I believe I finally fixed it by tweaking the power settings.
Although when I open the lid, I still need to press a key before the the unit comes out of sleep and the LCD turns on and prompting me for my windows password. is this normal? with my previous laptop I just had to open the lid to resume from sleep.
    Thanks

You're one step ahead of me. I can't even get mine to properly go to sleep most of the time. It just churns and churns and eventually shuts down the computer (improperly).

I have a different model but this is the behaviour I see on windows 7 . . have to press spacebar to actually start from sleep

Techman, my 1410-2920 behaves exactly the same way, and I'm perfectly fine with it working like that. It doesn't bother me one bit, because it's just a quick and simple pressing of any keyboard button.

Maybe it is so you can check if it is really sleeping without waking it up :)

Damn - wish babies had that functionality :) :)
