    Hey there.

I just got my Acer 1410 11.6" Celeron Processor 743 (Windows 7) laptop and I've been trying to get the Wifi to work for hours but it does not work. I tried everything :( Has anyone experience any issues when they just got the laptop? Any ideas on what to do? Thanks

And also, I have 3 bars out of 5 so the signal is fine. I can connect to my wifi using my Ipod Touch... just cant connect the wifi on the laptop? :( I entered my correct WEP key and everything...

    So

If you see bars then the WiFi is installed and on

There are 100 things to check but can you try 2 simple ones first
    1 Restart the router
    if still no sign-in
2 Check that your WEP key is being entered in the same format (string hash etc) as the router
3 Turn off WEP encryption at the router and try to connect then

Passwords often do not work if they contain clever characters like $@. etc which may be handled differently by different wifi devices

I understand that you may be choosing WEP if your ipod or some other device /laptop on the network maybe only supports that . . . BUT WEP security is as much use as a chocolate teaspoon these days.

When you get it working consider your Broadband account / network security vs cost of a newer ipod. You should be using WPA2 ideally

Try disabling and then restoring your network adaptor from control panel. (the good old "try restarting your computer" like trick)

Or try right click on wifi signal and "repair"
