Hi everyone. Just wanted to say that i love this forum, as its really been a help keeping up with updates and whatnot for my 1410.

I have been having an odd and slightly worrying problem with my Aspire 1410 (SU4100).

For the last few days I've realized that if I accidentally hit the back of the notebook (at the edge of the screen near the battery) while its open, it completely shuts off. The only way to bring it back to life is by taking out the battery and putting it back in. It definitely wasn't happening before. I recently got it for Christmas so its pretty much brand new.

Ive never seen something like it before. As you can imagine, it can be annoying when typing notes in class and I lightly tap the back with my knee to adjust it and it turns off. Ive never dropped it and have taken extreme care of it.

    Any ideas?

Also I'm from Canada and have the french-canadian keyboard version (not that would make a difference) and bought it from Costco, which supposedly extends the manufacturer's warranty to 2 years.

    Help would be greatly appreciated,
    thanks.

Does it turn off only on battery or battery+ac?

    Hi Jay_D,

It doesn't matter if I have AC plugged in or not; if that spot is hit, the entire thing shuts off.

In fact if AC is plugged in, and it happens, taking out the battery and putting it back in doesnt work. I have to unplug the AC, then take the battery out, put it back in and then power it on. Then as its powering on, plug the ac back in.

Sounds like there's a bad / loose connection in there. I'd send it in for warranty work.

Might even be a bad solder joint on the board. Send it in.
