I have this laptop http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDesc.asp?description=34-115-124&depa=3 it has radeon 9700 64MB, pentium 3GHz and these are my scores

    PcMark2002 4500
    3dmark2003 1800, on Omega 4.8
    3dmarka2001 8000,
they are very low compared to the similar configurations. What is wrong with it?? Should I reinstall Windows??

They seem low for a P4 3 Ghz laptop. Have you run them again? I have an interest since I may purchase the exact same laptop. Other than the benchmarks can you give any kind of review. Thanks for your input.

You've got me terrified because I just oredered a 1662 on Friday and It should be comming in this week. I was deciding between the eMachines M6809 and the Acer Aspire 1662 but I chose the 1662 because it has a Radeon 9700 instead of a Radeon 9600. I hope this laptop plays Farcry well..

Has anyone found any forums or reviews for the 1662 anywhere on the web? I see so many forums for eMachines laptops and gaming but never any for the 1662.

I've searched all over and cannot find a review. Probably because somewhat new. I may be making a purchase tomorrow. I just have to believe this P4 machine can do better.

Ok, now it's much better :D
    pcmark02 - processor 6681
    memory 4535
    hdd 652

    3dmark2001se 9700
    3dmark2003 2650.

I played Doom 3 and it helped;]Laptop gets pretty warm while playing (at the back). I can't compare it to the other laptops because it's my first lappy. I can say that it's quiet for me, hard drive is slow cause it's only 4200rpm (but system stays fast 4 me). Battery will last for about 1.20h of working. I can't make him to work with my TV and I don't konw why.

Oo I forgot to add that touchpad is great with that scrolling buttons. Laptop looks very cool and stylish (in my opinion)

Good, thanks for the follow up. Overall, are you satisfied with your purchase? I planned on getting an aspire 2012wmli but they are basically out of stock and I must make a purchase in a day (two at most). After reviewing the specs on the aspire 1662wmli and the new folio design I have decided on this machine. The keyboard layout or positioning looks to be more comfortable than the 2012. Also, I really don't need the extra battery time. Will be at a desk 95% of the time so 1 - 1.5 hours battery time is ok with me. Besides, there is a little more horsepower with the 3.0 HT Pentium 4 than with the 1.5 Banius chip in the 2012.

How do you like the 15.4" screen?

Again thanks for the feedback. Yes, for the price I think it is a very good purchase. I'll probably be ordering mine tomorrow.

Screen is great, I like it very much, but like I said I don't have comparison. I'm happy that I bought it. I would buy it again if I had to choose. It's powerful machine for less than 1300$.

I don't know, it looks like it depends on battery level. Even when AC adapter is conected, but battery is charging, you might get lower benchmarks.

I think we will have to wait for batteries. I've been looking for stronger batteries (4000mA included), but it's new laptop, so I couldn't find them either. I don't know how to change hard drive, sorry;]

I don't have my 1662wlmi yet so can't comment on changing HDD, ram , etc. However, at tigerdirect.com if you search on this model and select not sure, views or other other tab there are approximately 16 photos. A couple of them show the underside with covers off exposing the memory chips and pci card. Looks like upgrading the memory would be easy to do. Only other links I've found refer to press releases on the 1660 line. In Europe or at least the UK they have the 1664 model with 3.4 P4 chip and I believe 80 GB HDD. We should be able to pull together information after a couple of reviews.

Looking forward to your review. I am curious sbout the new folio look and the placement of the keyboard. Comfortable to type? Any flex in the keyboard ?

    Thanks
