My Acer 1810T has Windows 7 Home Premium x64 installed and it is using a Microsoft Webcam driver version 6.1.7600.16385 dated 6/21/2006.
On Acer's site, they list 3 Camera drivers for Windows 7 Home Premium x64:
Chicony - 1.1.95.71
liteon - 0.905
Suyin - 5.2.7.1
Does anyone know how to figure out which of these I am supposed to use?
Thanks!

I would really like to know about that, because i tried all three, but me Webcam is still listed in my Device Manager as "Web Camera "
I never use it, but well why not?? -
There's a post that shows you how to look-up the Device ID to determine which drivers to use. I'm looking for it.
Windows 7 Update will install drivers, however, if your Webcam image is "upside-down", then you need to grab drivers.
Let me find the post which shows you how to determine which drivers you need...

I couldn't find it so I'll write it up here for you:
#1. Open up "Device Manager" in Windows.
#2. Locate your Webcam in the device list, usually under "Imaging devices".
#3. Double-click on the Webcam device and select the "Details" tab.
#4. On the drop-down menu, select "Hardware Ids".
#5. You still see a long string with the most important characters being the 4 characters after "VID_" and the 4 characters after "PID_". These two groups of 4 characters together gives you the "Device ID" for your Webcam.
Example taken from my ASUS G51Vx-X3A; it'll be similar to the Acer 1810T with the important characters highlighted in red:
#6. After making note of the "Device ID" from "VID_XXXX" and "PID_YYYY", open up Google and type the search in the following format:
"XXXX:YYYY"
#7. If you're lucky, you'll get hits showing exactly which device you have like this:
#8. Match it up to the brand off Acer's Support website and download the driver! Tada!
Good luck!
Cheers,
Kermee
NOTE: This is the assumption that you've run Windows 7 Update and Microsoft has installed the "generic" Webcam drivers for your Webcam. If there are no drivers installed for your Webcam and it's not appearing under "Imaging Devices", then it will be one of the "Unknown" yellow devices. Just check all the "Unknown" device ID's until you get a match...Last edited by a moderator: May 8, 2015 -
Awesome thanks a lot Kermee
Mine is from Chicony Electronics! -
it's still web camera and uses windows drivers even after installing the correct ones
-
Yeah mine is from Chicony Electronics, but even after running the Crystal_Eye_Installer_95.714.exe, it uses the Windows 7 driver. I even tried to force it to use the "1.inf" file in the "inf" folder but it did not find a compatible drvier. Oh well.

Those cameras use generic drivers. I have the Suyin one, and in linux it works using the standard UVC drivers, and it does fine. I imagine that in windows something similar is happening.
If it works fine.. no need to worry. -

Download WebCamListBuilder

I'm experiencing a different problem. While I've identified that I have a Suyin webcam none of the drivers on acer's site works. I looked inside the inf file and it turns out all the webcam drivers for both Vista and Win7 have the exact same inf file AND it's made for an unmatched device. Can we get some experts on this because this is a big mistake.

Hi,
although the packages are listed in the drivers section on Acer support website, I assume they are simply some application software for the respective cams that allow product specific adjustments. The .inf file can be ignored (and they are broken anyway).

Well acer stock installed the Suyin driver software and it doesn't recognize my webcam. Device manager can't find any driver better than the stock microsoft one. See my screenshot.

The white balance option is completely disabled in stock Win7 driver and all other driver I've tried. There is another Suyin driver on Acer site which adds auto rotation detection comparing to stock Win7 driver -- can't remeber where I get it, maybe from 1820 tablet -- its useless imho.
I also get drivers from ASUS installed on 1410, but still, no white balance adjustment.
it's more of a "utility" than driver. -
never ran that software before, I always thought it wasn't working because the webcam driver is stuck on microsoft stock driver
-
Mine is USB\VID_064E&PID_A102&MI_00, and the Suyin software works here (at least it shows a picture).

my webcam does work on the microsoft driver, I used it several times in Windows Live Messenger. I just figured the driver should have changed to something that says Suyin if the Suyin driver installed correctly. Thanks to you pointing out the ACE software is not a driver I opened it for the first time after having this 1410-8803 for 7 months lol. The software opens and displays an image like it does in WLM.
I always thought the Suyin driver was to improve & add functions/adjustments.
BTW that is the same VID# & PID# I have. -
