    Acer 2490 travel mate display problem

    Hi all

    recently purchased a acer travelmate 2490 2nd hand. only problem im having is the screen ive connected it to my pc monitor and all is working as far as xp is used. just the screen is faulty.. hope someone can point me a positive direction thanks in advance absodonkers [​IMG][/IMG]

    Had similar problem with Acer Aspire One netbook. It worked fine with external monitor, but showed coloured lines or looked washed out, exactly like in the photo above. In addition, if you tilt the screen the colours would change, and at some point you you could actually see the desktop, except picture will have "ghost" shadows or look murky.
    The problem turned out to be in the damaged LCD cable. Replacing the cable solved the problem.

    You could try re-seating LCD cable on both ends: motherboard and screen. If this doesn't help, get a new cable. You can find one on ebay, just make sure you are getting the right one (check part number on your cable and/or make sure the cable you are buying is for the right screen size (14" vs 15"), etc).
