Hello,
Newbie here, so be gentle.
I have reformatted an Aspire 3100 with Vista. The install went well, and all drivers seemed to install properly.
The problem here is that the onboard wireless adapter is not found in the device manager. I can switch the adapter on/off and it says on the screen activated/disactivated. (no yellow question marks/conflicts)
I have gone to the website, and downloaded and installed all the Acer software for the laptop.
I have also flashed the bios to the most recent version.
The wireless was working fine before the reformat. The lappy was just bogged down and slow, so I just wanted to refresh it, hence the reformat.
I have stared at the damn thing now for a week, with no joy.
Can anyone please help with amending this problem
Thanks in advance
All the best
Parm

anyone?
I have scoured the net, and can not find a solution.
Looking for any direction -
Had to reinstall XP this week on my 3100. Last time I did not note the driver which succeeded to make the WIFI go. Last time also was a problem getting WIFI working. Eventually used system info utilities to try to discern what kind of hardware there was. -
Gizmo's Freeware Reviews
"System Information Utility"
I used Everest home and one of the others recommended.
Now I am recalling reading that the 3100 sported more than one wifi hardware type - 802ABG_Atheros_v5_1_1_9 is what I seem to have -
I just kept trying different drivers and uninstalling them when they didn't work - talk about clumsy. Really what got my solution was the specific google search-
"acer 3100 wireless network problem" and it seems luck.
Good luck - maybe you will find someone smarter than me that can help.
