Do these models share the same chassis and motherboard?

Although, I like Lenovo and have good experiences with that brand, I´m thinking of getting an Acer since they are the cheapest here in France and seem to have very good displays (8bit).

I´m thinking of buying the 3100 for 500 Euros and then upgrade later the components that I want. Isn´t that possible for a normal person that is experienced in building desktops?

From the specs it seems like both the 3100 & 5100 have the same chassis and internal components. The 3100 looks like the lower end model. Beware of small capacity batteries, the previous gen 3000 series had a 4 cell(2000) battery compared to the 8 cells(4400) in the 5000 series.

Upgrading the processor should be possible since the 3100/5100 seem to have easy access to the major components.
