The notebook will only boot if the dvd tray is pulled out. The button on the dvd tray to eject does nothing. Is this DVD dead and how hard is it to replace? Is there a workaround so that the computer can't look for it and freeze?

I get the ACER screen and then a cursor in the upper left hand screen. Nothing happens. Press the button to eject and both the drive light on the computer and the light on the tray are a solid green. Any help is appreciated.
