Hi guys,
Hopefully there are some Germans on this forum, or at least people living in Germany (like myself!).
Anyhow, we have a 1 year old Acer 3623-100 (it was the 499 euro deal last year) and the fan is making a lot of noise, really sounding like it is about to die. We will probably have to send it in to get the fan replaced.
The question is whether it would be better to send it in via Media Markt, or whether it should be sent directly to Acer. Also, does anyone know what the turn around time would be for such a job?
Thanks!
Charles

Greetings from Heidelberg - Sorry for a statement of the obvious but I assume you've tried canned air to get any lint/dust out of fan/fan area. Just a swag - I would attempt to send it to Acer-Germany rather than get the store involved. I like MM and go to the two in this area all of the time but I would guess that taking it to them would just add time to the process. Just out of curiosity - did you swap out the keyboard for a US keyboard?

Greetings from Dresden! I haven't tried the canned air approach, it might be worth a shot, although it doesn't really sound like dust, more like the ball bearings have simply died! Any idea where I can get some?
I haven't changed the keyboard as we use it mostly for non-English language work.

If your Acer was like my recently-sold Dell M170 - the fan was modular and could be removed from the bottom of the system. Guessing, though, that most other systems would involve completely disassembling the laptop in order to get to the fan. I Googled Acer - Germany and lo and behold they want as much as Euro .99 per minute just to talk to them!!
