Ive had my Acer 3680 since 4/07. I bought it brand new.

I keep it on the charger 85% of the time, and when its not on a/c power, I switch over to "power save" mode.

I was surprised about a month or two ago when my battery icon had a red "X" through it. It would be there whether it was charging or on battery power. When I switched to battery power, it would be at 100%, but then be down to 7% in like 2 minutes and shut off. I was able to get a new battery on ebay and now I have no problems. I cant help but wonder though, how long are people reporting with their 3680's?

We have a Dell laptop at work that we've had for 5 years with the original battery. Im not trying to diss Acer or anything. It could be I just got a fluke battery. I'd like to see how long your 3680 battery lasted before you had to replace it?

I have an Aspire 5684 and my battery life is down to 60% wear after two years. I will probably be due for a new battery in the next few months.

My 3680's battery also died in about a year and a half. It was a 4-cell OEM battery. I didn't really follow the optimum cycle thing, and had it discharged to 0% many times, probably thats why it died so quick.

I ended up buying the 9-cell from zandparts, and it has been good for the past 3 months. Gives me 3.5 hours of battery life, with the CPU undervolted.

My laptops about 1.5 years old also and just got the red x on system icon also, same problem says 100% yet unplug it at it dies within mins. Always used power saver mode and only ran unplugged 1 time.

    Jeepers...old thread ressurected...

My battery wear level @ 95% now. Still good for around 15 Mins though.
And mine is almost 3 years old. It's like a Desktop with a built in UPS@ the moment.

I screwed up my battery from day one....but it somehow still lives( barely).

    Time for new batteries folks!!

The battery I bought on ebay is still holding up and Im very impressed with how long it holds a charge. I get about 3.5-3.75 hours of use out of it before it needs charging.
