Hi, I recently just acquired an Acer Aspire, AS3810TG-944G50n.

I have been attempting to connect an external display (Hanns. G, HZ281 - 1920/1200) using the HDMI port.

It duplicates the screen to a lower resolution than the monitor allows and on the black edged areas appear blue lines. The resolution and problem also seem to vary depending on the task being performed such as using a media player.

I have also attempted to extend the displays as this is what i would like, but when attempting that through the display settings i get awful glitches? / colour problems and lines all over the monitors screen.

I would appreciate it if someone could answer a few questions like is it possible to run that monitor at its full resolution using this laptop?

Should i be using the VGA port instead of the HDMI to achieve what i want?

What settings / how to extend the displays successfully?

What would cause the colour / line problems?

Thanks for your time, Kind regards.

So what you are basically saying is that you use HDMI to connect your 3810TG to an external full HD monitor. Well it should work when you have the correct settings. Try to identify the screens in windows (where you set the resolution) and then select something like(mine is in dutch :p ): Only display on monitor 2 (the external one).

Appreciate the response and i attempted using those settings, but it appears the problem lied with a faulty / poor quality HDMI cable. Using a decent one i borrowed everything works as it should with no issues whatsoever.
