I've neglected to put my 3820tg away in its ZeroShock case a total of twice since I've owned it, and murphy's law has reared it's ugly head and cursed me with a broken screen.

In this thread (link directs to proper page) ( http://forum.notebookreview.com/acer/561840-3820tg-owners-lounge-part-two-208.html ) Bronsky talked about using the higher-quality screen from the Lenovo X-1 as a replacement, but concluded that it would be "prohibitively expensive to do the conversion" as the screens were on e-bay for over 900$ at the time.

They seem to be down in price now, and you can get your hands on one for well under 100$ ( 13.3" LENOVO 27R2439 93P5657 93P5658 93P5659 Laptop LED LCD Screen Repair | eBay ). They use a 40-pin connector on the lower-right of the back of the screen. I've searched, but not found enough info about the 3820tg's screen to feel fully confident in making an attempt to use this screen.

Is this screen compatible? If it's theoretically feasible I'd be happy to give it a shot and document and post my results, I'd just like to hear from some people who know more about laptop modding (this one in particular) than I. I'm a long time modder with more desktop than laptop experience, but I know how to use my tools, and successfully did a backlit keyboard mod already, I've just never worked with laptop screens.

Don't buy that screen. Its not the real screen from the Lenovo and could have worse quality than your original screen.

Why don't you start looking for a 1600x900 screen? Its what I'm going to do for my e6320.

No one has been able to fit a 1600x900 display in the Acer. It was tried, but the connectors could not be adapted. As far as the display in this thread, no one has tried it yet. Sorry I can't be more help.
