If Acer would put the 8 Cell battery in all of their laptops, I would buy one.

I probably wouldn't get anything less than a 6 cell for a 15" laptop - I made sure that the Acer I bought had an 8 cell, considering that it had a 15.4 widescreen....and X700 GPU. I get 3 to 3.5hrs on it.

Yeah, its generally their lower end Aspire models that come with the 4 cell, mine did but it wasnt a big issue for me since I use my laptop strictly around the house.

You can still upgrade the battery to an 8 celled one though, but is going to cost another $100 - $150 more.

Miner or anyone. Can you confirm that the LCBTP03003 will work with the Aspire 3003CLi ?

    Thanks!

Acer makes very attractive laptops but the extra $100-150 is just rediculous. I would rather have 256mg of ram and a better battery. Notebook memory is rediculously cheap online and a special olympian could master the installation of additional ram.

I must remember that I am prodigy. There are few of us around and we must tollerate the corporate ignorance of various laptop marketing departments. I see the big picture and what others miss.

I think Acer just puts in the lower-capacity battery on it's low end laptops to keep cost down. On higher end models like mine, they put in the proper 8 cell.

For what you get with an Acer though, the specs are very impressive. ;)

I brought a 3003WLMi for $750.00 (Staples). With the 512megs of ram, 15.4 inch monitor, DL DVR+/-RW, the nearest competitor with the same specs cost something like $1000 or more (at least). Go to ebay, the 8-cell replacement for my battery is going for $70.00 which means for $750.00 + $70.00 = $830.00 I got a machine that comparable to most of the "mid-range" machines out there.

I agree it may be a little silly to put such a small battery on such a big screened laptop, but it's still a value once everything is said and done. The only other gripe I have is that for whatever reason mine didn't come with any productivity software like word and all that. Not a big deal, I had a copy anyway. I guess they did it to make the price attractive, but it seems like that should scare some people off more than the battery issue.

Is an 8-cell battery available for the Aspire 1694 (1690 series, really)? I'm not even sure that I'd have any use for one, though - the 3.5hr battery life on this is what I was expecting. What would you get with an 8-cell?
