My girlfrireds 4315 has a seemingly common problem.

It is that of intermittent flicker of the display. a quick on/off sometimes as long as 30 seconds. it can happen hours apart.

Now i searched for solutions until i could bash my head into a wall. but the only explanations i can find anywhere is a damaged cable btw the mobo and panel.

I am reluctant to believe that as moving the panel shaking and bending has no effect. (not that i would do those things very hard).

My girlfriend complains about it alot and i seldom see the problem. It usually happens while watching video in media player. but also can happen on the desktop.

But here is thing. when i saw it happen last there was not just blackening of the screen but a strange redish dull squigly artefact, so i assume its a graphics adapter at fault.

Am i right in thinking so or is that not the right theory?

all i have done to it is, replaced the stock ram with 2 1gb kingston chips and i replaced the hdd and installed XP.

the adapter is intel 965 express and i have reinstalled the v.6.14.10.4785 drivers.

    cheers.
