    Acer 4520 Shuts down while playing a video file

    Tried reinstalling the windows ,reinstalling video drivers , change power settings, :confused: no luck ..Anyone please help.

    I have installed XP pro sp2.Tried installing vista but i dont have the key to unlock ultimate.

    Also when i installed the blue tooth software there was blue screen errors many times...Techies any thoughts on this.?????????

    I'm not too sure, but it might be due to overheating. Try and installing a program that monitors CPU temperature and see if it reaches above 90C or around that.

    Also for the Bluetooth software, it is the one that came with the laptop or is it a 3rd party module?

    Thanks for the response , i think it is not a heating issue as ,i am able to keep the laptop on for a long time if i am not running a video.

    The blue tooth software is given with the laptop

    Check your Event Log and try to find some error message that deals with the video problem. Best to find entries where improper shutdowns occur. Maybe you'll find something useful.

    When you were reinstalling Windows are you using the Recovery CD/Partition or clean install?

    Video are cpu intensive, if the pc is sitting there, just browsing the web or other kind of light tasks the cpu will stay at it's lowest frequency meaning that it doesn't produce heat at all... use something like notebook hardware control or rmclock to log your cpu temp and launch a video to trigger the shutdown.

    Thanks Ayle , but let me put a point here i have a nvidia 7000M , if i disable the device ,laptop works fine but if not this is is the problems and iam not finding proper updated drivers
    Also left laptop on without running video,,it worked fine no reboot
    ... Please help

    yup ,no go or probably iam not getting the right drivers..i want to install vista probably that works but i dont have a cracked version.i have installed it and it is not taking the key
