    Hi all,

I am using acer aspire 4520 for past one year.
But, for the last 2/3 months, I was facing a problem that dvd writer was sometimes detected in BIOS & sometimes not.
And finally, from the last week, the BIOS is not at all detecting the " MATSUSHITA DVD WRITER"

Its quite strange, as the orange led on dvd writer blinks like before & it write pops out when I press eject button too.

Have you guys also faced similar problem with this matsushita dvd writer?

Maybe some BIOS update is needed.

    Suggest me what to do??

    Thanks
    Rohit

my guess would be either the cable is loose and finally went out entirely or the writers gone you'll still be able to eject and see the light blinking as this is controlled by the power and not the ide cable or anything. you could try opening it up to see if it's connected but otherwise you might just need to get a new burner.
