I recently updated the bios on a 4810T from version 1.28 to version 1.35. The windows based update was used. While the update went fine in that the notebook did not "brick", the process wiped the DMI information. This seems to be a common problem as I have found several posts on other forums along these lines, but have yet to find a solution. The Compal DMI String utility version 3.0 is often mentioned, however, this utility freezes when it is run on the 4810T. Has anyone found a DMI utility that works on the 4810T to write serial number, model number, and UUID?

After a lot of trial and error, I found a program that works on the Russian Acer Fans Forum. The MPRW.exe program, which is apparently a program for Qaunta manufactered laptops, works on the 4810T. With this program I was able to replace the product name, serial number, and generate a new UUID. Run the program from a DOS bootable USB drive. Running MPRW without any flags produces a list of commands. If your model name has spaces, enclose the name in quotes, i.e. "Aspire 4810T". Here is a link to the program that is posted on the Russian forum:

Hope this helps out others with this problem.
