    Hii all,

I brought an Acer Aspire 4820 TG from India today. It is really good, but faced some LCD issues the very first day. The guy will come next week to rectify it. I had a very important query here,

My current warranty includes 1 year ITW. I will be traveling to Netherlands for my 2 years Masters course. Is it possible for me to upgrade this ITW to Local collect and return (Acer advantage of sorts) warranty schemes once I am in Netherlands? I called the call center in India, and they are behaving pretty strangely, claiming that, I CANNOT get an International warranty, as I bought it from India. Please help me out with this.

    Thanks

    Santosh

In your package, did you get the international warranty booklet. It's in mine. There are a lot of definitions and the issue is not clear to me but there is an argument that can be made for a student who is away from his home for more than 3 months and who has no intention of making that country his or her home or domicile. Sure soulnds like you. I wonder if Acers in India are sold without the internation warranty?

Yes, I did get the same warranty. It is also called International Traveler's warranty, am I right?

But the ITW's condition are pretty weird. It has carry-in service only, and you need to be a "bona fide traveler". Hope they have exceptions for students. What I am looking for is some extension of sorts, hope it is available once I reach Netherlands.

    hi
we are on the same boat here. I have written a mail today morning to acer asking that if i buy a lapotop from usa can i get the same warranty extended in india.

What kind of lcd issues are you facing ? Also how much did u pay for it ? Iin my city all 4820 tg have an i5-430 p.rocessor which is an older one as compare to the models available in USA and Singapore !

the ITW is to protect the sales of the local market i guess ! See laptops are cheaper in USA than India. now if mosty of us start buying from USA then the Indian sales get hampered . thus the itw is a smart move by acer. If i buy laptop from the USA i will not get warranty in India as i am originally resident here. Again this is what i umderstand from the itw that is there in the acer website.
