How does your 4820TG have an 5750? We all have 5650s.

Those are decent temperatures; although 3dMark06 doesn't quite push the laptop to any thermal limits...running any new game for 10 minutes will heat up the CPU and GPU a lot more.

That's some nice suicide-run scores. Does your GPU go unstable in 3dmark06 past 780/1110?

I think a lot of people can't even OC their 5650 past 700/900.

My new 5820TG seems to handle 725/1100 fine (did a test, 9530 score); not sure how far it can be pushed though.

I´ve tryed with 1115 but then it freeze :p
I also can play games for hours in 780/1100 ;)

Highest temp on the gpu is +69C degrees when playing..

I have changed out the thermal pads and paste to Artic Silver 5 paste!

If your max is 780/1110, better back off two dozen MHz for regular usage; your paste will deteriorate, also room temperature will change throughout the year, also dust will always accumulate over time causing decreased cooling. Better safe than sorry.

I'd recommend you run everyday OC @ maybe 770/1050 or something like that. It won't affect your gaming performance (will drop framerate by like 0.3 fps), but will ensure your laptop is well within the safety zone.

Those an decent temps. A couple of hours of sc2 might be a better indication of temps under stress. Intel's burn test is another option. Your I7 runs much cooler than the other ones that we've seen.

That's because it's not an "i7" i7 :p (its actually the top i5 dual core) although you know that already Bronsky

I was comparing it to the other dual core CPU that we have seen in the 3820TG. The 620m's we have seen run in the high 90C range. They also don't OC well. The addition of the extra cache seems to significantly affect the performance of the CPU.

Also, it seems that OP's 5650 overclocks mighty well. Never seen anyone else overclock CLOSE to 795/1100. Maybe that has something to do with the CPU?

hmm, i think it´s because the low temp here i sweden, around +15-20C indoors and -10C outdoors. Could also be the new thermal paste I applyed!

Just made a clean install of win 7.. well see if I get better scores in 3dmark now ;)

Ran Intel Burn test for 10min.. theese are the max temperatures(Good/Bad?):

Ran intel burn for 30min.. this is my max, max temps!! what do u think about it??

I will oc my gpu more tonight!

no problem , the TJunction of the I7 is 105° , it means that it can support 105° , i dn't understand people who are scarry when the have more thant 80°C on the CPU , it is build for supporting theses temperatures ...

It´s not an AMD cpu ;)

hmm, I would never use quiet hdd... lowers the performance!

quietHDD is mostly recommended for people who have a Western Digital hard drive and have freezing/stuttering problems in games, etc. The program has been proven to work for many people in this forum.

These are more like the temps we have seen in other I7's during the burn test. Your one core seems hot to me. My I5 would run OC'd at 3.66 in the low 90C range (91C stock, 93C OC'd). What paste did you apply? If you didn't use IC Diamond 7, I can't recomend it more for the Acer. The dual fan/sink cooling system can remove as much heat as the sink can transfer to the fan. ICD7 seems to transmit more heat than anything else that I've tried. I saw temps decrease by 10C.

In any event, since the Burn test is probably as hot as your CPU will ever get (although a long gaming secession can produce more heat at times), you probably don't have to worry about throttling. The I7 starts to throttle at 103C or 104C to prevent exceedign the Max temp of 105C. Imagine what the temps would have been without the paste you already replaced. Those I7s are really hot CPUs. That is why I stuck with the I5-540M (fastest I5 at the time).
