I have a 4820TG and just bought myself a HP ZR24W. When using the Intel graphic card I have no problems but the ATI-card refuses to give me anything higher than 1600x1200. If I force it into displaying all modes it still doesn't give me anything above 1280x1080 (which doesn't work by the way). The native display of the monitor is 1920x1200. I don't have clone-display activated or anything like that, just the one external monitor. The monitor has the latest INF file and the ATI drivers are the latest that Acer have provided. Does anyone have any idea?
I can ad that I am connected through the VGA port and that the Mobility Radeon 5650 is supposed to be able to handle resolutions way beyond 1920x1200.

I would DL the install the latest HD 5650 driver from ATI and ssee what that does. How about switching to HDMI input?

Thanks for the help:
The HDMI plan is sound & something that struck me directlyroblem is that the 4820 has HDMI output and the monitor only has DVI input. But I will buy a HDMI-to-DVI adapter and try that.
Regarding the latest HD 5650 driver from ATI I did'nt have the guts as I read somewhere on ATIs site that switchable graphic cards should always use the computer manufacturers own drivers and not the standard ones ATI provide. Do you have any experience with this? (UPDATE: Just tried it and the ATI package automatically detects that I should not run the standard drivers on my notebook, tells me so and then aborts the install). -
Which version of the bios and video drivers are installed in your notebook?

Ace, it turned out OK. I bought a HDMI to DVI adapter and everything worked just dandy. Thanks for the help Bronsky (whose passionate longing in the Timeline thread got my eyes set for the 4820/3820 to start with).

Glad you got it resolved, although it sounds like Acer still has some bugs to work out with its VGA out. It's either a driver issue or a bios issue.

yea, shouldn't VGA work just fine? weird..
