Guys, I am really torn between these two systems. They both have similar spec and meet all my criteria. Price wise they are also very close. At this point my decision would be to get the one which has better build quality (less likely to have a problem)

So which laptop is better built?

This poll is a bit pointless since people will answer what they think have better build quality rather then what does have better build quality.
Even if there were people who used both those laptops- they would easily get out-voted.

Same Processor? If you minus out the Graphics you should still be able to point out specs differences as well as price.

At this point i am not tryingto decide on the specs, as both will satisfy my needs. So I will choose one over the other based on build quality. Some reviews say the asus looks cheap, others that it has good build quality.. go figure. So I wanted to get opinions from people who actually own the acer and/or the asus and have a bit more realistic evaluation.

After having had to use both Acer and Asus service in the past couple of months, I would probably never buy anything Asus again. I have a P6T Deluxe motherboard in my desktop that failed and would not post. At the same time, my Acer had the problem with its webcam. I asked for an RMA for both at the same time. I had the Acer RMA in a matter of minutes by using "Fix My Acer". It was sent off the next day and was back in my possession completely repaired in two weeks.

With Asus, it took 10 days to get an RMA. I then sent in my unit and received no confirmation that it was received (like Acer does). It has been there for almost 3 weeks and I still have no status on the repair work. Whever I call, the representative says it is still under repair and can't tell me anything else about it. Asus has been completely unresponsive.

Looks like that is my last Asus product.

I too am amazed at the changes in Acer and Asus. Acer used to be the company with sucky customer service and Asus was a quality brand, and now they seem to have switched places. Sad really.

After reading the horror stories of Asus Customer service, I looked to the Acer brand.

Now I have a 4820TG on the way and cannot wait for it. :)

Poll may also be biased since this is the Acer subforum.

I don't have any experience with the Asus; however, I can say the Acer TimelineX has excellent build quality.

From my research it seems that these two laptops may be of similar build quality.

I am leaning more towards the asus u41jf mostly because of the better warranty (2yr standard + 1 year ADH).

Can some one please post a video review showing keyboard and lid flexing for the Asus u41jf?
