I have just purchased a Acer 4920 with 120Gb Hd and Vista Home Premium, my problem is how much space does Vista require the drives are partitioned into 2 and each partition shows 49.5Gb after a clean install one drive shows 28.5 Gb left and the other 44.5Gb. I phoned tech support who suggested the clean install which I did with no change. Tech support then told me it was now a hardware problem and to phone Acer who said that Vista was media hungry and that 25/40 Gb memory was nothing unusual for Vista and that I had nothing to worry about. why after buying a laptop with a 120Gb Hd am I now only able to access approx 70Gb. I suspect I am being fed a load of BS but not nowing much about Vista I can't prove anything. Microsoft want £46 + just to talk to me. Can anyone help.
Many Thanks Ossie

Your 120GB HDD would anyway have 111GB usable.
You can go into Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Computer Mngt > Disk Mngt, and check the various partitions, and see if there is any unallocated space.
You can also download GParted, and being independent from Windows, it will show you all partitions and you can modify them whichever way you want to. -
Many thanks for your reply, I will try this out.
